Battlefield 2: Modern Combat

EA finally has delivered Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Does it live up to one of the best multiplayer FPS titles around?

EA has made a killing with the Battlefield series. I have been following the series since its debut back in 2002. Battlefield 1942 is one of the pivotal games in the advancement of multiplayer for first-person shooters. Many now of days try to emulate its multiplayer options and modes, but, fail on all levels. There’s nothing better than the real thing. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat is now available for the Xbox 360 – with visual upgrades and tweaks over the original Xbox version.
The depth of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat all lies in the multiplayer.
Playing Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on the Xbox 360 will be the first time I have played the series since Battlefield: Vietnam. I missed out on the Xbox and PS2 entries of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. I waited out for the Xbox 360 version since I was in the transition to switching to the next-gen material. I am happy with my decision since it does look better with the graphics and it’s exactly the same game in terms of gameplay it was last year. If you are in the same camp I am with being new to Battlefield 2, then jump on the train and read the rest of the review.
Stalking the prey.
The storyline is based in Kazakhstan. The story all comes down to NATO vs. China. You’ll play along side both forces as the campaign flip-flops between both. There will be 20 missions to frag the enemies in. The missions are laid out similar to one another so no surprises will be in store past half way through. The best addition to this Battlefield installment is the ability to HotSwap. Here’s a quick rundown on how to HotSwap and what it allows you to do.
HOTSWAP:
HotSwapping takes squad shooters to a whole new level. The feature allows you to become any soldier in the army at a blink of the eye. This gives you total control of how you want tactical combat to all fare out. To HotSwap to another soldier, center the soldier in the middle of your screen. This in turn will change his troop type icon to white and then you’ll have to press the X button. When you do happen to die, you automatically will swap to another soldier on the battlefield. It will cost you time and affects the Casualties rating at the end of the mission. HotSwapping is fun so I recommend everyone to use it to his/her advantage.
