Dragonball Z Burst Limit Review
|
|
I review the highly anticipated DBZ Game, Burst Limit. The game captures the beautiful essence of the DBZ story up to the Cell Saga in all its HD glory as it debuts on the Xbox 360 for the first time.

Created by Dimps, the same guys who worked on Budokai 1-3 and the PSP Shin Budokai titles, this game does best at keeping close to the original formula. Your average, tame, fighting game in which you press buttons to see your character do a kick, a jump, and maybe even a punch, is thrown out the window. Anyone expecting a realistic, controllable fighting system leave the room now, no, actually jump out the window. This carriage has lost its driver.
In the first few seconds of getting used to the controls, you will either do one of many like getting the living crud beaten out of you, button mash your way to victory on the Very Easy difficulty, or actually be a very experienced player after playing the demo 24/7.
The control scheme is set up simply enough that you can jump in and be successful early on by using only the face buttons to perform fast or strong attacks, block and use Ki powers. X and Y and the basic attacks, A to block, and B for Ki blast. For fans worried about D-pad or analog stick controls, no worries, they are both accessible. Ill admit, it will take awhile to get used to for all those who were used to playing the game back on the PS2. The characters featured all have unique fighting styles and it looks beautiful, fans will be pleased.
Trunks Will Slap You Silly.
At the bottom is the Ki bar, this time non-chargeable, it automatically fills back up. This handles all the basic power attacks from Kamehameha, Super Kamehameha, and Aura Spark. Aura Spark is when a character is surrounded by a blazing aura. While in Aura Spark you have a temporarily infinite Ki Meter, your Fatigue Meter will decrease, and you can perform a Vanishing Attack. Using a Vanish Dodge or Pursuit Attack will cancel your infinite Ki and begin to return it to 0. Your Ki Meter will eventually do this anyway so if you have plans to perform it you may as well do it when the chance presents itself. Using an Ultimate Attack will bring your Ki Meter to 0 instantly. Also while in Aura Spark, pressing LB again will cause you to do an instant Vanish Dodge. Its just amazing.
