Geometry Wars Evolved is the sequel to Geometry Wars, which came packaged with Project Gotham Racing 2 on Xbox. There are two ways to get it: buy it on Xbox Live Arcade for 400 Points ($5) or you can get it inside the racing title Project Gotham Racing 3. Those of you who aren’t racing fans but are looking for a very good Live Arcade title, this might be up your alley.
The premise of the game is simple—it is in the vein of the old arcade space shooters, where you are a little triangle shooting at oncoming shapes. You control your shape with the left stick and shoot with the right, pointing it in the direction you want to fire. You also have bombs that destroy everything in the space when things get hectic. The amazing thing about the game though is the visuals. It is simplistic, let it is complicated. Basically it is simply complex. The way things move, how you distort your space, and have glowing particle effects all over the place, is jaw-dropping, and amazing. This title literally couldn’t of had been on any of the current generation systems. Things get so insane, and so crowded, that you might be to worry about going into a seizure. So despite how simple it is to understand, within ten minutes into the game you are visually overwhelmed, and that is the trick of the game. If you don’t plan to buy PGR3, and you are looking for a classic feeling, but great looking challenge, definitely buy this title.

Geometry Wars Evolved is amazing fun, with fantastic but simple visuals that anybody can get into, but not everyone can be good at. It may be to challenging for some, but if you aren’t buying PGR3, get this when you can.
